Check your consumer unit (fuse box)
Locate your consumer unit — usually in a hallway, under the stairs, or a kitchen cupboard. Look for any MCB switches or RCD levers that have flipped to the OFF position.
Unplug all appliances on the affected circuit
Before resetting, unplug every appliance on the affected circuit. Start with high-draw items: washing machines, dishwashers, electric ovens.
Attempt a single reset
Firmly push the tripped switch back to ON — just once. If it holds, plug appliances back in one at a time to identify the culprit. If it trips again with nothing plugged in, stop.
Identify the faulty appliance
If power holds after the reset, reconnect each appliance individually. When the breaker trips again, the last appliance plugged in is likely the cause. Don't use it again until inspected.
